In the Beginning
In the beginning I created the mini-tree’s and attached them to the earth… Then I said, “Let there be Light!” And there was spinning and fading light and I smiled because it was good…. 🙂
These were the first element I built and added to the display. Back in 2014 when I added my first light controllers, I built the mini-tree’s to include in the musical sequences.
The Build
The build follows the old school method, using two tomato cages and lots of small zipties and mini-lights. I built eight mini-tree’s using 42″ heavy-duty green tomato cages from Home Depot. I followed the excellent instructions on the DoItYourselfChristmas.com wiki. Each tree uses 150 LED multi-color mini-lights connecting to a single channel on an LOR1600Wg3 controller.
